Game Format (Wild Card Selection)

The wild card selection process is another feature that has made the Tim Hortons Brier unique and prestigious. The process is designed to make room for the teams (that did not qualify for the event) to participate.

Previously, a wild card game used to be played between the top two teams who did not win their provincial championship on the CTRS standings; the winner of this game was usually selected for the final spot in the tournament.

Now, Curling Canada has decided to include three wild card teams instead of the usual one. These teams are meant to qualify without participating in a play-in game. This Wild Card Selection format is being used for the third time, with the first two in 2021 and 2022, respectively.
