In Super Bowl 57, the Chiefs and Eagles will square off on Sunday. Both teams are vying to win their second Lombardi Trophy in the last five years, but only one can triumph and take home football’s top honor. It has every component necessary to be a fun event. Star quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts, who will face off for for the second time in their careers, have both had seasons worthy of the MVP award. The first matchup was won by Mahomes and the Chiefs, who defeated Hurts and the Eagles 42-30 in Week 4 of the 2021 campaign.

But initially, we should at the very least think about how the big game is doing. Even if the odds (more on those below) are on the tight side, the Eagles are currently the favorites to win. Both Philadelphia’s running game and the fact that their squad has fewer holes are seen as crucial factors in their success. Jalen Hurts of the Eagles is the early favorite for MVP.

Kansas City Chiefs vs Face Philadelphia Eagles: Super Bowl LVII Preview

The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20 on Sunday night at Arrowhead Stadium in the AFC Championship game, earning the right to play the Philadelphia Eagles in the big game on February 12.

Kansas City led 6-0 after converting two field goals and quarterback Patrick Mahomes found tight end Travis Kelce for a touchdown to take a 13-6 lead going into halftime. The Bengals outscored Kansas City 14-7 in the second half to go into the fourth quarter tied at 20-20.

The Chiefs drove down the field in the final seconds when a scrambling Mahomes was shoved out of bounds by Cincinnati defensive end Joseph Ossai, who was called for a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty, setting up the game-winning 45-yard field goal by Harrison Butker.

“I was with this team, man. We played together. I said it from the beginning, when we were in the locker room, I said we gotta be together and this team stepped up. It’s a great football team and we showed this place that it’s Arrowhead, it’s not Burrowhead out here,” Mahomes said after the game.

Earlier in the day, the Eagles routed the San Francisco 49ers 31-7 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia to punch their ticket to the Super Bowl for the first time since 2018. The Eagles took an early 7-0 lead and used their defense to rough up 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy. Fourth string quarterback Josh Johnson entered the game for the injured Purdy before leaving the game with a concussion.
