The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) will host the awaited ceremony at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on March 12, 2023, to present the 95th Academy Awards. The recognition will be given to movies from 2022.
2023 Oscars: what you need to know
The renowned television host, comedian, and writer, Jimmy Kimmel has once again been selected to host this year’s academy awards after his notable performance in 2017 and 2018. Producers for the Oscars 95 are Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss (who also happens to be the director).
‘Everything Everywhere All at Once, a comedy-packed film directed by Daniel Kwan has 11 nominations this year including the academy award for best picture, best actress in a leading role, best actress in a supporting role, best actor in a supporting role, best directing, writing, best music, best costume design, best film editing, and others. Fans throughout the world eagerly wait to see if their favorite movies get the deserved recognition or not.
The Dolby Theatre has been the constant venue for the academy awards since its opening in 2001. This live-performance theater situated on Highland Avenue, in the Hollywood district of Los Angeles was built by AMPAS to curb the hassles that it faced when hosting the awards at other venues.

For the first time in history, two Asian actresses have been nominated for the best actress and best supporting actress categories in a single year. The best supporting actor category also has an Asian actor as a nominee. This takes the total number of nominated Asian actors to 3 making the 2023 Oscars even more noteworthy. Angela Bassett has also been included in the best supporting actress category for her exceptional performance in Wakanda Forever.
