US preview

Vlatko Andonovski, who insists on playing all goalkeepers, will likely start Alyssa Naeher on Saturday and Casey Murphy on Tuesday against Ireland.

For the first time since 2021, midfielder Julie Ertz is in the squad. However, she does not have a club team and may not be match-fit. Kelley O’Hara and Tierna Davidson return from ACL injuries.

Megan Rapinoe misses due to leg injury. Christen Press and Catarina Macario are nearing recovery from damaged ACLs.

These friendlies can only include 23 players, therefore three of the USWNT’s 26 players will have to be healthy scratches.

Ireland preview

Aine O’Gorman, Louise Quinn, and Denise O’Sullivan are veterans for the 22nd-ranked Irish.

O’Sullivan and Katie McCabe, the Republic of Ireland’s top scorers with 19 and 18 goals, respectively, lack goals. O’Sullivan will captain this game in honor of reaching 100 caps after eight years with Women’s Super League side Arsenal. McCabe typically captains.

First-time internationals include Sophie Whitehouse (Lewes), Tara O’Hanlon (Peamount United), and Alannah McEvoy (Shamrock Rovers).
