The biggest fight scheduled for January is when one of boxing’s most fascinating competitors, Artur Beterbiev, will defend his WBC, WBO, and IBF light heavyweight world titles against Anthony Yarde.
Beterbiev (18-0), a two-time European Championships gold medallist, made his pro debut in 2013. Beterbiev, who primarily fought in Canada, won the WBA-NABA light-heavyweight championship in 2014. He won the IBF light-heavyweight title in 2017 after defeating Enrico Kolling. Beterbiev’s supremacy at light-heavyweight continued in 2019 when he defeated Oleksandr Gvozdyk for the WBC belt. Beterbiev won the WBO championship in his previous bout in June, defeating Joe Smith Jr. Beterbiev’s victories have all been via knockout. When is Beterbiev vs Yarde?
On Saturday, January 28, Artur Beterbiev will defend his belts against big-punching British opponent Anthony Yarde at the OVO Arena Wembley. The main event begins at 3 p.m. ET, and both combatants should get in the ring at about 5:30 p.m. ET, depending on the length of the undercard fights.
Yarde made his professional debut in 2015. In 2017, the Briton won the WBO European and WBO Inter-Continental light-heavyweight belts. In his fight for the WBO light-heavyweight title in 2019, Yarde was defeated by Sergey Kovalev. He has gone 5-1 since then, defeating Lyndon Arthur in 2021 for the Commonwealth and WBO Inter-Continental light-heavyweight championships.

Artur Beterbiev is a classic champion with an approachable fighting style. To begin, the unbeaten Dagestani fighter is always walking forward in all of his matches. He’s highly protective and keeps his head covered. Beterbiev’s best advantage, with his technique of continually walking opponents down, is the tempo he puts on competitors, especially in later rounds. His strength does not wane as the fight progresses, and while he is eager to trade firefights, he typically emerges as the least injured fighter. He possesses a strong chin and a good combat IQ, which will save him from being hit too hard by Anthony Yarde.
Anthony Yarde is a terrifying puncher who knocks his opponents out with a single devastating right hand.
