(Fwrd Axis) — Four people were killed when a gunman opened fire inside an Oklahoma hospital on Wednesday, authorities said.

The gunman, described as 35 to 40 years old and armed with a rifle and a handgun, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, Tulsa Deputy Chief Eric Dalgleish told reporters in a press conference.

Tulsa Police Capt. Richard Meulenberg said the gunman opened fire, wounding 10 people. No injuries were considered life-threatening, he said.

The shooting occurred around 5 p.m. inside the Natalie Building at St. Francis Hospital, authorities said. The victims appeared to be a combination of patients and employees.

The gunman and his motive have not been identified.

Tulsa Mayor G. T. Bynum said that police “did not hesitate today to respond to this act of violence.”

The shooting comes a week after 19 students and two teachers were massacred at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. Over Memorial Day weekend, over 60 people were injured and nine were killed in 14 mass shootings across the United States.

Gun violence left at least 156 people dead and 412 injured from 5 p.m. ET Friday to 5 a.m. Tuesday.

On Tuesday in New Orleans, a woman was killed and two men were injured in a shooting at the site of a high school graduation on the campus of Xavier University.
