Cancerous Lesion Removed During Biden Physical, White House Says

Biden’s previous physical was in November 2021 when O’Connor said Biden was “fit for duty”

A lesion removed during President Joe Biden‘s annual physical last month was cancerous, but no further treatment is required following the removal, the White House said Friday.

Dr. Kevin O’Connor said in a letter that a lesion removed from Biden’s chest was sent off for a biopsy and the results came back as basal cell carcinoma.

“As expected, the biopsy confirmed that the small lesion was basal cell carcinoma. All cancerous tissue was successfully removed,” O’Connor wrote. “No further treatment is required.”

Biden’s previous physical was in November 2021 when O’Connor said Biden was “fit for duty” and could carry out his responsibilities “without any exemptions or accommodations.”

“The site of the biopsy has healed nicely and the President will continue dermatologic surveillance as part of his ongoing comprehensive health care,” O’Connor added.

The news comes after first lady Jill Biden had two lesions removed that were also identified as basal cell carcinoma.
