Coheed and Cambria have officially announced their 10th studio album, Vaxis Act III: The Father of Make Believe, slated for release in 2025. The album follows Vaxis Act II: A Window of the Waking Mind from 2022 and continues to expand upon the band’s intricate sci-fi narrative, The Amory Wars. This time, frontman Claudio Sanchez takes the storyline to new levels by portraying the “Father of Make Believe” himself, a meta twist in the tale. The album introduces a new villain, Blind Side Sonny, a figure who was teased in the earlier single “Blind Side Sonny.”
To further excite fans, Coheed and Cambria have unveiled a new track, “Searching for Tomorrow.” The song showcases Sanchez’s signature vocal style paired with dynamic, energetic rock hooks and a laser-sharp guitar solo, giving listeners a glimpse of what to expect from the album’s sound. The band has also released a music video for “Searching for Tomorrow,” offering fans a visual preview of what’s to come.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the new material, Sanchez explained that the song reflects a personal theme: the tension between constantly seeking something better and failing to appreciate the good things already present in life. He likened the creative process to a “musical midlife crisis,” noting the internal struggle for growth and artistic release that pushed him to create something new yet evolved.
As for the album release, Vaxis Act III: The Father of Make Believe will come in multiple formats, featuring some truly unique collectibles. Fans can look forward to items like a fully functional Blind Side Sonny helmet, “neuro-dynamic display goggles,” a hardcover illustrated novella, posters, and even a death certificate for a fictional character named Siv Trafinder.
