In support of the efforts to raise awareness and much-needed funds for Artsakh, Creative Armenia and the Armenian General Benevolent Union will host Concert for Artsakh. The global event will bring some of the most talented Armenian musical artists together to benefit Artsakh and its people, who – since late September – have endured unprecedented attacks on their citizens and structures by the forces of Azerbaijan, Turkey, and factions of terrorist groups.

On October 26 (10AM PST / 1PM EST / 9PM Artsakh time), the benefit concert will premiere on Facebook Live and YouTube, featuring System of a Down’s Serj Tankian, Capital Cities’ Sebu Simonian, soprano Natalie Aroyan, violinist Ara Malikian, jazz and folk musician Arto Tunçboyacıyan, Voices of Artsakh, Areni Agbabian, and more. Hayk Arsenyan, Director of the Performing Arts Department of AGBU, explains,
“When the war broke out, it became our responsibility to bring together artists for peace. Now, the voices of these Armenian musicians from across the world and on the ground in Artsakh will resonate with millions and bring awareness to Artsakh’s struggle for peace.”
The aggressors’ disregard for human life echoes actions of the past and bring to mind the ideologies that led to the Armenian Genocide of 1915. Now in 2020, elected U.S. officials are beginning to take action against them, calling on the Trump Administration to “impose significant, tangible consequences on the individuals responsible for Azerbaijan’s continuous campaign of aggression against civilians in Artsakh.”
Along with many efforts by Armenians and their allies across the world, this event will create an emotional response and awareness to the culture of Artsakh and is a testament to the strength and resilience of its people. Although these strengths are present, the aggression imposed upon the residents of the Republic of Artsakh is only leading to loss and destruction. Through the true efforts of lawmakers and organizations with the power and voice to hold those using their positions in corrupt and aggressive manners accountable and speaking out, peace will prevail.
