Report: Grant Gustin Nears Deal For ‘The Flash’, Ensuring Season 9 Renewal At The CW

The news of Gustin’s contract renewal comes after fans were speculating if the show would continue beyond its current eighth season.

(Fwrd Axis) — The Flash is speeding his way to another (and possibly last?) season at The CW.

The Flash star Grant Gustin is reportedly near a deal to renew his contract for another season, ensuring the superhero drama will be greenlit for a ninth season on The CW. Gustin’s current deal will expire at the conclusion of the eighth season and contract talks were interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Deadline was the first to report the news about Gustin’s contract.

As a part of Gustin’s new deal, he’s reportedly getting a raise on his salary of $200,000 an episode. Deadline is reporting Gustin will only appear in 15 episodes in the ninth season, meaning he likely won’t be in every episode.

Jesse L. Martin, Candice Patton, and Danielle Panabaker along with other members of the cast all signed up recently for new deals but it is unclear if those deals included the ninth season.

The CW recently committed to a new show starring David Ramsey titled “Justice U”, which will see John Diggle recruit young heroes and mentor them.

The news of Gustin’s contract renewal comes after fans were speculating if the show would continue beyond its current eighth season in part due to Stephen Amell’s decision not to continue on Arrow after eight seasons.

“Listen, I may never have a job this cool again, that this many people actually tune in to watch, so I’m not gonna take it for granted,” Gustin told ET at the end of Season 7. “Seven [seasons] is it for most of the cast actually, but I think it would be great if we can continue after that.”

The Flash aired a special five-part “Armageddon” event attracted 720,000 total viewers and a 0.2 demo rating, placing third behind Superman & Lois and Walker.

The Flash continues its Season 8 on March 9 at 8/7c on The CW.
