WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani has tested positive for COVID-19, Mr. Trump announced in a tweet on Sunday afternoon.

Giuliani was admitted to Georgetown University Hospital on Sunday, reports confirmed. There has been no confirmation of when Giuliani learned he tested positive or any other details released on his condition.

The former mayor of New York has recently been traveling across the country to lead Mr. Trump’s efforts in attempting to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. Giuliani was in Georgia on Thursday in a courtroom and it is not clear if others have been informed of his condition or have been told to get tested.

Giuliani has ignored the guidelines from medical experts going maskless in state capitols and courtrooms, including an indoor news conferences in recent weeks. Giuliani was seen shaking hands, hugging and taking pictures with people at all of these events while not wearing a mask or observing social distancing.

The 76-year-old is considered high-risk for complications from the coronavirus due to his age and prior battle with cancer. Trump campaign attorney Jenna Ellis tweeted out her prayers for Giuliani and called him a “tough warrior.”

The news comes after Giuliani’s son, Andrew, tested positive for COVID-19 last month after attending a Trump campaign legal team news conference in the nation’s capital. Meanwhile, campaign adviser Boris Epshteyn also tested positive in late November.
