Charlie Kirk Shooter Charged With Murder, Prosecutors Announce

Utah prosecutors on Tuesday announced they have charged Tyler Robinson with aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm, obstruction of justice, witness tampering in the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

Utah County Attorney Jeff Gray said he intends to seek the death penalty.

“I do not take this decision lightly, and it is a decision I have made independently as county attorney based solely on the available evidence and circumstances and nature of the crime,” Gray said at a press conference.

Robinson has been in jail since his arrest on Friday following a two day manhunt after he shot and killed Kirk at a college event at Utah Valley University.

Gray detailed some of the evidence against Robinson, including text messages between Robinson and his roommate, interviews with the suspect’s family and physical evidence that was collected at the scene of the shooting and other locations.

President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance and deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller, have blamed the “radical left” for the killing while the majority of sitting members of Congress on both sides have been mourning.
