Vice President Kamala Harris on Wednesday sat down with Fox News for an interview, her first with the conservative cable network, saying that her presidency would not be a continuation of the Biden administration.

Speaking to host Bret Baier, the interview was fiery and informative as the Vice President distanced herself from Biden after being criticized for past comments of not changing anything that the President has done the previous four years.

“My presidency would not be a continuation of Joe Biden’s presidency,” Harris said. “And like every new president that comes to office, I will bring my life experiences and professional experiences” to the job. I represent a new generation of leadership.”

The interview lasted 30 minutes and was taped in Pennsylvania, a critical battleground state that both Harris and Donald Trump are fighting to win in November’s election.

Baier asked Harris about her campaign slogan, “A New Way Forward” and what exactly America is moving forward from.

“We want to turn the page from the last decade in which we have been burdened with the kind of rhetoric coming from Donald Trump that has been designed to divide our country,” Harris said.

The interview began with a conversation about the border and immigration. Harris tried to highlight her support for the bipartisan border bill that Republicans blocked from passage earlier this year, Baier cut her off.

“Let me just finish,” Harris replied. “I’ll get to the question. I promise you I was beginning to answer.”“May I finish responding? You have to let me finish,” Harris said as Baier again interjected.

“This is a democracy”

The interview became heated when the topic turned to Trump’s recent comments about “the enemy within” after she called out Fox for editing a clip of Trump and answered by labeling Trump as “thin-skinned” and a threat to U.S. democracy.

The former president has escalated his rhetoric about internal threats from Americans, including “radical left lunatics”.

“You and I both know that he has talked about turning the American military on the American people. He has talked about going after people who are engaged in peaceful protest. He has talked about locking people up because they disagree with him,” Harris said.

“This is a democracy, and in a democracy the president of the United States in the United States of America, should be willing to be able to handle criticism without saying he’d lock people up for doing it,” she added.
