January 6 Committee Approves Multiple Criminal Referrals Against Trump

If convicted of giving aid or comfort to an insurrection, it would bar Trump from ever “holding any public office within the United States”.

WASHINGTON (Fwrd Axis) — The January 6th House Select Committee held its final hearing and voted unanimously on Monday to approve multiple criminal referrals for former President Donald Trump and his associates.

The committee wrapped up its proceedings by announcing it is referring four criminal charges for Trump to the Justice Department for obstructing an official proceeding, defrauding the US, making false statements, and giving aid or comfort to an insurrection.

If convicted of giving aid or comfort to an insurrection, it would bar Trump from ever “holding any public office within the United States”.

“No man who would behave that way, at that moment in time, can ever serve in any position of authority ever again. He is unfit for any office,” Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) said in her opening remarks,

While the final report will not be released to the public on Wednesday, the committee did release a summary following their final hearing. In that summary, Hope Hicks texted a White House colleague that the attack on former Vice President Mike Pence was uncalled for.

“Wtf was that?”, Hicks wrote.

The committee also presented findings that Trump’s associates offered employment to Jan. 6 witnesses in an effort to influence testimony.

This is a developing story and will be updated with more information.
