LONDON — Actor Kevin Spacey was found not guilty of a series of sexual assaults on Wednesday by a London court.

Spacey, 64, had pleaded not guilty to 12 charges of sexual assault. A jury began deliberations on Monday following the three-week trial as the prosecution attempted to label Spacey as a “sexual bully,” and the American actor took the stand to defend himself.

As the verdict was read, Spacey began to cry. The actor has faced sexual assault charges both in the United Kingdom and United States. He was found not liable in October in a civil sexual assault suit brought by fellow actor Anthony Rapp in New York City.

The American actor was accused of sexual assaults against three men and one charge of causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent going back two decades.

The victims in the case described Spacey as “slippery,” a “vile sexual predator,” and “disgusting.”
