(Fwrd Axis) — NBC released its midseason schedule on Friday and despite AGT: Extreme not being on the initial schedule, the network is planning to air it in the new year.
Production shut down last month after Jonathan Goodwin was severely injured following an on-set accident after he was crushed between two cars in a stunt gone wrong. Goodwin is still in the hospital but will survive following a long recovery.
Frances Berwick, Chairman, Entertainment Networks, NBCUniversal Television, and Streaming said the network still plans to air the show midseason, possibly on Sunday nights following the football schedule ends.
“We have an investigation ongoing into what actually happened but we do anticipate the show coming back in midseason. We have a lot of safety protocols in place and we have to conclude the investigation but we have certainly paused production for the time being,” she said.
The spinoff sees Nikki Bella and Travis Pastrana join Simon Cowell at the judge’s desk with Terry Crews set to host. It showcases outrageous and jaw-dropping daredevil acts with extreme contestants competing each week in a series of wild stunts.
“We’re actually taking a beat on our Sunday night schedule post Olympics. We have a number of unscripted shows that are in the pipeline and in production, some that we have actually completed production so we’re taking a beat to see the environment and see what goes in there. AGT: Extreme is one of those possibilities,” Berwick added.
AGT: Extreme airs on NBC in the new year.
