INDIANAPOLIS — A depleted San Antonio FC squad continued its run of bad luck as they fell 0-1 to Indy Eleven at Eleven Park on Saturday night.
The loss is the third straight for San Antonio, who has lost four of their last five matches overall.
The lone goal of the match came in the form of an own goal from SAFC on a header off an Indy Eleven corner kick in the 29th minute. San Antonio had a chance to take a lead in the 16th minute but could not convert the penalty kick.

When it rains, it pours
San Antonio is in a rough patch, losing three straight league matches for the first time since the 2019 season and was shutout for the third time this season.
“I think this extreme adversity we’re experiencing over the last eight games have really tested us, but our mentality training implemented in preseason has prepared us for this challenge, and this adversity is going to help us grow as individuals, collectively as a team and with time, we’ll be better for it,” SAFC Head Coach Alen Marcina said.
San Antonio will hope to get bodies back on the pitch sooner rather than later as they continue to slide down the Western Conference table.
Road Woes
SAFC’s struggles on the road continued Saturday night, losing their fourth consecutive match away from Toyota Field and their fifth road loss overall, going 1-5-1 so far this season.
“The guys are doing a lot of good things. Again, we just need player availability,” Marcina said. “Yes, we’re not getting the results, but it’s extremely positive performances. We’ll continue to build, and we know what we’re capable of when we’re close to full strength.”
Looking ahead
With San Antonio struggling and needing players back from injury, they can only look ahead to the next match. With the schedule not doing them any favors, they will need to dig deep if they want to get out of this funk.
“I think looking at the game, first of all, the result is not what we wanted. It doesn’t satisfy us, we know that, but I think it was one of our better – if not, best – game when you look at the past month, SAFC Defender Richard Windbichler said. It could’ve been a different winner today, but it’s just how it is. We just keep going.”

San Antonio FC is now 4-6-5 (17 points) on the season and will return to the pitch on Wednesday when they close out their road trip against Birmingham Legion FC (5-5-3) at 7 p.m.
