Trump Falsely Claims Victory As Millions Of Votes Are Still Being Counted

Trump claims fraud and threatens to go to the Supreme Court

WASHINGTON – Despite millions of ballots still yet to be counted, President Donald Trump has falsely claimed that he won the 2020 general election early Wednesday morning despite no winner officially being declared.

“We were getting ready to win this election,” Trump said. “Frankly, we did win this election.”

Mr. Trump spoke at the White House early Wednesday morning and as of this writing, there has been no winner declared in the election. He also said he’ll go to the Supreme Court, though it’s not clear why.

“We’ll be going to the U.S. Supreme Court, we want all voting to stop,” Trump said. “We don’t want them to find any ballots at 4 o’clock in the morning and add them to the list.”

Votes have yet to be counted and certified in multiple states including Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Georgia, and North Carolina. Democratic nominee Joe Biden leads Mr. Trump 220-213 in the electoral vote count with 270 needed to win.

Despite not having a lead in the electoral vote count, Mr. Trump claimed he was ready to throw a “celebration” at the White House.

“We were getting ready for a big celebration,” he said. “We were winning everything, and all of a sudden it was just called off.”

The President’s comments have been months in the making as he attempted to undermine faith in the election process and wrongly insisted only valid election results are those called on election night.

Back in September, Mr. Trump made unfounded claims and conspiracies about mail-in ballots being altered and “thrown away” if they had his name on it. No ballots with his name were ever found.

Earlier in the night, Mr. Biden spoke to supporters in Wilmington, Delaware and advised them to be patient and keep the faith.

“We knew because of the unprecedented early vote and mail in vote, it’s gonna take awhile,” he said. “We’re gonna have to be patient until the hard work of tallying votes is finished… but we’re feeling good.”
