Amid Fears Of Another Indictment, Trump Lawyers Request Meeting With Garland

In a letter posted on Trump’s social media website, the former president’s legal team say that Trump should not be charged in the investigation.

Former President Donald Trump’s attorneys have requested a meeting with Attorney General Merrick Garland, amid fears of a looming indictment in the investigation into Trump’s handling of classified documents after leaving office.

In a letter posted on Trump’s social media website, the former president’s legal team say that Trump should not be charged in the investigation related to his alleged mishandling of classified materials after leaving office and his efforts to obstruct the government’s attempts to retrieve them.

The letter is requesting a meeting with Garland at his earliest convenience to discuss the “ongoing injustice that is being perpetrated” by special counsel Jack Smith, adding no president has been “baselessly investigated” in such an “unlawful fashion.”

The document was signed by both of Trump’s lawyers but also fails to provide specific allegations of wrongdoing by Mr. Smith and his team. Trump has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing associated with classified materials and said on a CNN Town Hall earlier this month he had every right to take them.

“I had every right to do it, I didn’t make a secret of it. You know, the boxes were stationed outside the White House, people were taking pictures of it,” Trump told moderator Kaitlan Collins.

When Collins asked if the former president showed the documents to anyone, Trump gave a vague answer.

“Not really,” he answered. “I have the right to do whatever I want with them.”

A spokesperson for Garland did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fwrd Axis News.

Fwrd Axis News previously reported the FBI found documents of classified intelligence regarding Iran and China at Trump’s Mar-A-Lago home in Florida.

According to court documents, federal agents took 11 classified documents, including some labeled secret and top secret from Mar-a-Lago. The documents included a handwritten note, information about the “President of France,” an executive grant of clemency for Trump ally Roger Stone and binders of photos.

Papers labeled “SCI” documents, which stands for highly classified “sensitive compartmented information”, were also removed from the home.
