After seven days inside the most famous house in Australia, Michael Downs became the first housemate to be evicted from Big Brother Australia on Sunday night.
Michael lost out in the eviction vote to Holly and Jane, who were also nominated in the first live nomination show of the season earlier in the week.
Following his eviction, he told host Mel Tracina he expected that he would be leaving the house due to the voting demographic.
“I’m an older guy, and it’s younger girls voting. They’re not voting for me,” he said.
He remained honest and said his feelings regarding his now former housemates. He explained why he thought the relationship between Holly and Colin was “a con” and revealed more about his time in the house.
Speaking to Tracina after his elimination, Michael said he was excited to check his emails and see his children – in that order.
“I didn’t want to go in there and not ruffle feathers,” he said. “I went in there, ruffled feathers and here I am! But, if I went back in [to the house]… I’d do it all again, absolutely.”
“Conversing with people I wouldn’t normally talk to in the outside world has been a little bit humbling,” he said, adding that bonding with housemates like Mia, “Wouldn’t have happened without Big Brother”.
Michael’s exit comes as a new twist is set to rock the house. Live streaming revealed overnight that a Head of House has now been appointed by Michael before his departure.
And he chose… Holly.
As a result, Holly will decide which housemates do the chores, weekly shopping, she has been given the only queen bed.
Big Brother Australia airs Sunday-Friday on Channel 10 and streams on 10Go.
