Over 100 Dead In Texas Floods As Search For Missing Continues

At least 11 girls remain missing from Camp Mystic.

KERRVILLE, TEXAS — At least 104 people are dead and more are missing following the catastrophic flooding in Central Texas over the fourth of the July weekend.

Most of the fatalities came in Kerr Country, where 59 people are believed to be dead and additional 10 people in Central Texas have died with 41 people missing.

In Travis County, four people are dead, with three dead in Burnet County, two in Kendall County, and one death each reported in Tom Green and Williamson counties, county officials said.

At least 27 people at Camp Mystic died, the camp confirmed in a statement.

The camp said it is working with state officials to try to locate the 11 girls who remain missing.

“This tragedy has devastated us and our entire community. Our hearts are broken alongside the families that are enduring this tragedy, and we share their hope and prayers,” the statement said.

Former President George W. Bush, who also served as governor of Texas from 1995 to 2000, said his family was heartbroken over the loss of life. He thanked first responders for all their work.

“Those who have lost their precious children are facing a grief no parents should ever know,” Bush wrote.

Former President Barak Obama also shared his thoughts, saying the flash flooding is “absolutely heartbreaking.”

“Michelle and I are praying for everyone who has lost a loved one or is waiting for news — especially the parents,” he wrote.

President Donald Trump signed a disaster declaration for Kerr County and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is on the ground, the Department of Homeland Security said Sunday.

The U.S. Coast Guard is also helping with search-and-rescue operations in the area, according to DHS.

“DHS Secretary Kristi Noem is on the ground with Governor Abbott and local leaders on Saturday and will continue to work to make sure Texas has the resources needed to respond and recover,” the DHS statement said.
