OAKS, Pa. — Former President Donald Trump‘s town hall in Oaks, Pennsylvania, on Monday night was cut short after two medical emergencies in the crowd — but it was his behavior after that has left questions about the former president’s health.
The event was first paused after just 30 minutes into the question-and-answer session after an attendee to be placed on a stretcher and escorted from the venue. The town hall, moderated by South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, was stopped a second time and this time, Trump stopped taking questions.
During the first incident, Trump requested “Ave Maria” be played and an instrumental version of the song played into the hall. During the second incident, he said he meant Italian opera singer Luciano Pavarotti’s version of the song. It was then played.
Trump spoke for a few more minutes before calling for music to be played, leaving many in the crowd confused and wondering if the town hall would continue.
“Those two people who went down are patriots,” Trump said. “We love them. And because of them, we ended up with some great music, right?”
Trump suggested the crowd rather listen to the music than hearing him answer more questions.
“Let’s not do any more questions. Let’s just listen to music,” he said. “Let’s make it into a music fest. Who the hell wants to hear questions, right?”
He then asked for the Village People’s “YMCA” and it blasted through the loudspeakers — usually a sign Trump is exiting the event — but he remained on stage for over 40 minutes.
The former president danced and shimmied onstage to Sinead O’Connor’s “Nothing Compares 2 U,” Rufus Wainwright’s cover of “Hallelujah” and Guns N’ Roses’ “November Rain.” During this time, several of his supporters headed for the exits but some stayed to watch.
Trump usually does this at Mar-a-Lago, his South Florida estate, where he likes to play DJ but this marked the first time that he has done it in public.
Vice President Kamala Harris, who also held an event in Pennsylvania on Monday, reposted her team’s video of the incident, adding “Hope he’s okay” early Tuesday morning.
“It makes you wonder — why does his staff want him to hide away?” Harris said Sunday in North Carolina. “One must question — are they afraid that people will see that he is too weak and unstable to lead America? Is that what’s going on?”
Trump posted a late night rant to his social media account, Truth Social, where he claimed he is healthier than Harris.
“I’ve put out more Medical Exams than any other President in History, and aced two Cognitive Exams (the Doctor stated that my “cognitive exams were exceptional!”). I am far healthier than Clinton, Bush, Obama, Biden, but especially, Kamala,” he wrote.
