Harris Slams Trump In First Visit To Campaign Headquarters

Harris spoke about her time as a prosecutor and said she she knows how to handle Trump.

Vice President Kamala Harris gave Americans a preview of how she will attack Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump in her first campaign remarks since President Joe Biden announced he will not run for re-election.

Speaking at her campaign headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware, Harris spoke about her time as a prosecutor and said she she knows how to handle Trump.

“I took on perpetrators of all kinds,” she said, including “predators who abused women, fraudsters who ripped off consumers, cheaters who broke the rules for their own gain.”

“So hear me when I say I know Donald Trump’s type,” she added.

Biden called into campaign headquarters, talking to his now former campaign staff, telling them to get behind the Vice President.

“I know it’s hard, because you poured your heart and soul into me to help us win this thing, help me get this nomination, help me win the nomination, and then go on to win the, win the presidency. But you know, you’re an amazing team, but … I think we made the right decision,” he said.

“In one term, he has already surpassed the legacy of most presidents who served two terms in office,” Harris said of her boss.

Democrats quickly rallied around Harris, showing her support and endorsing her as the delegates quickly worked to make her the nominee.

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer formally endorsed Harris in statements Monday morning, joining other big name Democrats.

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) also endorsed Harris on Monday.

She was elected to the U.S. Senate in California in 2016, becoming the second Black woman and first South Asian woman to serve in the chamber.

The Harris campaign said the Vice President has been working phones to get support from several Democratic leaders.

“The best path forward for the Democratic Party is to quickly unite behind Vice President Harris and refocus on winning the presidency,” said Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, a name floated to be Harris’ running mate.
