SAFC, Switchbacks Play To 1-1 Draw In Colorado

San Antonio’s winless streak extends to five matches.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Fwrd Axis) — San Antonio FC wrapped up their road trip with a 1-1 draw against the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC at Weidner Field on Saturday night.

The Story: San Antonio gave up a late goal as they settled for a draw for the fourth time in the last five matches.

  • Santiago Patiño scored the lone goal for SAFC, putting home his third goal of the season.
  • San Antonio’s winless streak extends to five matches, going 0-1-4 in that span.

“If you look at our last seven, eight games we’ve been the better team. We’ve outshot the opponent, home or away,” SAFC Head Coach Alen Marcina said. “A lot of positives, putting ourselves in good position obviously we’ve got to do a little bit better job being more clinical in front of goal, because the opportunities we’re creating are massive.”

Final stretch: San Antonio is now one point behind Sacramento for first in the Western Conference and three points behind Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC for first place overall in the USL Championship.

  • We came here and fought, for 90 minutes, we wanted the three points, we got a draw. Now we recover and prepare for the next home match,” Patino said.

Up Next: San Antonio FC is now 13-5-11 (50 points) on the season and will return to action next Saturday at Toyota Field against the Tampa Bay Rowdies.
