Texas Governor Greg Abbott will not issue an order to remove floating barriers in the Rio Grande amid threats of legal action from the Department of Justice.

In a letter to President Joe Biden, Abbott cites the “surge” at the U.S.-Mexico border as the reason for the placement of the barriers.

Texas will fully utilize its constitutional authority to deal with the crisis you have caused,” Abbott wrote. “Texas will see you in court, Mr. President.”

The news comes after a new report from the Houston Chronicle reported a whistleblower claiming he was told by his supervisor to push young children back into the Rio Grande.

The Inspector General of the Texas Department of Public Safety is conducting a full investigation into the reports.

This is a breaking news story and will be updated with more information.
