Britney Spears and Sam Asghari are engaged after five years of dating, FWRD AXIS News can confirm.
The couple confirmed the news on Instagram Sunday, Spears shared the video of her ring on Instagram with her smiling while showing off her new bling.
Spears’ reps also confirmed the news in a statement, saying, “the couple made their long-standing relationship official”.
“The couple made their long-standing relationship official today and are deeply touched by the support, dedication, and love expressed to them,” Asghari’s talent manager, Brandon Cohen of BAC Talent said. “Roman Malayev from NYC is the ring designer. He couldn’t be happier to be involved and make this a one-of-a-kind ring.”
Earlier this year, Spears seemed interested in taking things to the next step with Asghari but the conservatorship wouldn’t allow it.
“I was told, right now in the conservatorship, I’m not able to get married or have a baby,” Britney told the judge. “I have an [IUD] inside of myself right now so I don’t get pregnant.”
Asghari met Spears when she hired him to play her love interest in her 2016 music video for “Slumber Party”.
This will be Spears’ third marriage. She was previously married to Kevin Federline, with whom she had two children — Sean Preston and Jayden James. The pair were married from 2004 to 2007. She also had a brief 55-hour marriage to Jason Alexander earlier in 2004.
The news of Spears’ engagement comes after Spears’ father, Jamie Spears, agreed to step down from the singer’s conservatorship. Spears had been beholden to the conservatorship for the last 13 years, which was brought on after her public breakdown in 2008.
Spears gave truly emotional testimony, which prompted her fans to trend #FreeBritney on Twitter as they pushed for her to be able to live her life without her family interfering.
