Country Star Koby Keith Diagnosed With Stomach Cancer

The news comes amid Keith announcing his tour stop in Ohio had been canceled.

(Fwrd Axis) — Country singer Toby Keith announced on Sunday he was diagnosed with stomach cancer last fall and has spent undergoing treatment for the past six months.

“Last fall I was diagnosed with stomach cancer. I’ve spent the last 6 months receiving chemo, radiation, and surgery. So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover, and relax,” the 60-year-old singer tweeted to his fans.

“I am looking forward to spending this time with my family. But I will see the fans sooner than later. I can’t wait,” he added.

The news comes amid Keith announcing his tour stop in Ohio had been canceled. His website lists other planned performances in Illinois and Michigan but there is no official word if those have been canceled as well.

According to the American Cancer Society, men face a higher lifetime risk of developing stomach cancer with the average age of diagnosis being 68. The ACS says stomach cancer diagnoses account for 1.5% of all new cancer diagnoses in the U.S. each year.
