(Fwrd Axis) — President Joe Biden will deliver a speech on Tuesday on the omicron variant amid a new surge in cases that have affected the world of sports and entertainment.

“We are prepared for the rising case levels, and the President will detail how we will respond to this challenge,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki said in a statement.

The news comes as the omicron variant has forced several sports teams to postpone games and entertainment venues to halt production on shows due to a rise in cases. Health officials are urging Americans to get vaccinated and boosted as the best way to protect themselves.

Biden is currently in Wilmington, Delaware for the weekend but has been receiving additional Covid briefings from his medical experts. The omicron variant is the more transmissible variant that is expected to spread quickly, infecting others who have previously had COVID.

The President has made it clear to his medical team the message is to be direct with the American people due to the severity of the variant and the quick surge.
