Evanescence’s Amy Lee Speaks On The Band’s Tragic Losses That Inspired ‘The Bitter Truth’ Album

Evanescence‘s co-founder and lead singer Amy Lee has checked in with Matt Pinfield for this week’s entry of the New & Approved music show.

With the band’s latest spring released album ‘The Bitter Truth’ marking a new chapter for the Lee and the group, the Little Rock native speaks on the life moments that inspired the project.

As the novel coronavirus pandemic greatly impacted Lee and members of Evanescene, the tragic lost Lee dealt with when her brother passed in 2018, was the beginning of expressing their loss through the album.

Amy speaks on the honesty that she seeks to have in her music and songwriting. As Lee explains that honesty is an overall challenge, but ultimately inspiring her fans and others to be able to express their pain, she also speaks on the empowerment that she also promotes with the group Plush and being in a mentorship role for the band. Amy goes on to speak on how “Better Without You” came together, working with her family and long time friends, and much more.
