GREENVILLE, N.C. — Kamala Harris on Sunday called out Donald Trump for failing to release his medical records and rejecting a second presidential debate, calling him ‘weak’ and ‘unstable’ at a rally in North Carolina.
Speaking from the campus of East Carolina University, Harris called out the former president, suggesting his campaign wants him to ‘hide away’ until Election Day.
“It makes you wonder — why does his staff want him to hide away?” Harris said. “One must question — are they afraid that people will see that he is too weak and unstable to lead America? Is that what’s going on?”
The new line of attack comes just 24 hours after Harris released her health records, where her doctor, Dr. Joshua Simmons, said the Vice President “remains in excellent health”.
Harris’ team is looking up ramp up their attacks on Trump in the final weeks of the campaign with Trump turning down an interview with CBS’ “60 Minutes” and accepted a CNN town hall set for October 23 in Pennsylvania.
Trump, who is 78, is the oldest person to become a presidential nominee. He has undergone several tests then but has not released a detailed report that includes blood test results, blood pressure, weight, conditions or medications.
Recent polls have shown Trump with a small lead of 0.9% over Harris in the Tarheel State.
“We are nearing the homestretch,” Harris said. “I’m gonna tell you — it’s going to be a tight race until the very end, and we are running as the underdog.”
Harris’ rally in North Carolina kicks off a week long blitz through the battleground states as she will travel to Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin in the coming days as well as Georgia.
Her visit to North Carolina is her attempt to shore up support from Black voters, a key part of her coalition to win the state in November. A new CBS News poll released Sunday shows the Vice President with 87 percent of the Black vote but other polls have her behind Joe Biden in 2020.
