‘America’s Got Talent’ Recap: The Talent Goes Live

For the first time in Season 18, ‘AGT’ went live!

After weeks of auditions, America’s Got Talent officially kicked off their live show rounds on Tuesday night as 11 acts took to the stage with the hopes of impressing the audience to advance to the finals.

In case you missed it, here’s a recap of the night and a prediction of who will advance into the next round:

True Villains

The first act of the night belonged to rock band True Villains, who impressed the judges in the audition rounds with their cover of Billie Eilish’s song “Bad Guy”. In the live round, they took a risk with an original song.

While they got the auditorium rocking, the song choice was not good. Simon and Howie both said the song choice was risky. And that may prove to be true tomorrow night.

Lambros

No, just a waste of a live spot.

Mitch Rossell

Thankfully, Mitch was up next and put together the best performance of the night up to that point. He sang an original but unlike True Villains, he made it a risk with taking as he gave himself a shot at advancing into the next round.

Oleksandr Leshchenko & Magic Innovations

The group from Ukraine was up next and they told a story that ended with the slaying of a dragon-like creature. However, with that said, the audition felt a step down from his first audition.

Despite that, given the lineup on the night, he may have a great shot of advancing into the finals.

Adrian Stoica & Hurricane

Hurricane (and we don’t mean Hilary) was up next with her owner Adrian. They gave a solid audition and followed it up with a cute and hilarious two minutes that gives the duo a solid chance of being in the finals.

It might even be the best dog act AGT has ever had.

SAINTED

The trap choir followed the dog act with a mashup of songs from “Hot In Heere” to “Return Of The Mack”. They blew the roof off the stage and had the judges on their feet.

While the performance was good, I am not sure how that will translate into votes from the viewers.

Brynn Cummings

Next up was the child ventriloquist, whose act saw her looking for a boyfriend for her puppet. After working with Heidi to help her land a match, the audience also had cards to confirm she ‘read’ their minds.

Brynn is a great ventriloquist, one of my favorite child ventriloquists. However, the magic and ventriloquism just didn’t work. She’s very talented but I think it’s the end of the road for her.

John Wines

The music teacher from England was up next and he rocked the auditorium, he did, however, get a red X from Simon. While John is very talented, I don’t see his act going past the first qualifier round.

Maureen Langan

The comedian was up next and put together a set about being a middle age woman going through some things in life. Comedy is subjective but because I didn’t laugh, I say this is the end of the road for her.

Ray Wold and Mom

This act was funny but a waste of time. So I won’t go into it much, you can watch below.

Lavender Darcangelo

The final act of the night belonged to Heidi’s Golden Buzzer, Lavander. She sang her rendition of “I Wanna Know What Love Is”. While it is one of my favorite songs, this performance was not it for me. She missed notes and just did not deliver a strong showing.

With that said, she likely is going into the finals.

Predictions:

With the first live show in the books, it was a pretty weak night. Given the reaction from fans online and in the auditorium, I think it is safe to say both Adrian & Hurricane along with Lavender will move into the finals.

America’s Got Talent airs Tuesdays and Wednesdays on NBC.
