The Traitors UK premiered its first-ever celebrity series on Wednesday night, captivating viewers with an impressive 6.1 million viewers on BBC.
The figure is higher than the 5.4 million that tuned into the series three premiere in January, but lower than the 7.4 million viewers that watched the Series three final earlier this year.
On Wednesday night, Big Brother UK garnered 400,000 viewers on ITV2, while Married At First Sight UK attracted only 590,000 viewers on Channel 4. This was a significant drop for MAFS of 300,000 viewers despite airing an hour earlier.
Viewers will likely return for more after the premiere ended on a cliffhanger, with Traitors Jonathan Ross, Cat Burns, and Alan Carr had to rub one of the faithful’s faces with pollen from a poisonous black lily.
Host Claudia Winkleman greeted the celebrities and quickly put them on a mission to earn shields for safety.
“We’re starting as we mean to go on — surrounded by death,” Winkleman told the celebrities.

At the end of the mission, the celebrities who earned safety were: Jonathan Ross, Joe Marler, Joe Wilkinson, Kate Garraway, Charlotte Church, and Celia Imrie.
In the end, Alan was left to decide who to murder. And he’s having a tough go of it.
“I can’t believe they’ve left me to it,” he said. “I have people I want to kill, but it’s not going to be easy. What am I going to do?”
I’m sure the viewers are just dying to find out.
The Celebrity Traitors airs on BBC One on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9:00 p.m. BST and on BBC iPlayer
