WASHINGTON (Fwrd Axis) — President Joe Biden on Monday was overheard on a hot mic calling a Fox News reporter “stupid son of a bitch” during an event at the White House.
The President made the profane remark following a question from Fox News White House reporter Peter Doocy about inflation being an issue for Democrats ahead of the midterm elections in November.
“Would you take a question on inflation … ? Do you think inflation is a political liability in the midterms?”, Doocy asked.
“It’s a great asset — more inflation,” Biden responded. “What a stupid son of a bitch.”
Speaking on Fox News after the incident, Doocy said he asked the President about inflation because he wouldn’t answer any more questions about Ukraine or Russia. He also said he didn’t hear Biden’s response.
“Other reporters had to tell me that he said it because I couldn’t hear anything over the shouting from (White House staff telling the press to leave the room),” he said.
Biden has become increasingly annoyed when faced with questions from reporters over the past week. Fox News reporter Jacqui Heinrich asked the President on Friday why he was waiting on Russian President Vladimir Putin to make the first move with Ukraine, Biden responded under his breath, “What a stupid question.”
Prior to the Council Meeting, Biden spoke with European leaders in a virtual call on Monday about Russia’s military buildup on Ukraine’s border. The White House said NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Polish President Andrzej Duda, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi were all on the call.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki said at Monday’s briefing there would “certainly” be a discussion about pending sanctions.
“We have been consulting with allies and deployments and refining plans for all scenarios,” said Psaki. “We have always said we would reinforce our allies on the eastern flank and those conversations and discussions have certainly been part of what our national security officials have been discussing with their counterparts now for several weeks.”
