Minnesota Lawmaker Shooting Suspect Vance Boelter Arrested

Vance Boelter was arrested near his farm in Green Isle, Minnesota — ending a two day search for the suspect.

MINNEAPOLIS (Fwrd Axis) — The man suspected of shooting two Minnesota lawmakers came to an on Sunday evening after he was arrested by police, officials confirmed.

Vance Boelter, 57, was arrested near his farm in Green Isle, Minnesota — ending a two day search for the suspect. Boelter was processed and booked at the Hennepin County Jail early Monday.

Minnesota State Patrol Lt. Col. Jeremy Geiger said Boelter was taken into custody without incident.

“The suspect crawled to law enforcement teams and was placed under arrest at that point in time,” Geiger said.

Boelter is accused of shooting of Minnesota state Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, killing both, as well as shooting Sen. John Hoffman and his spouse.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz condemned the shootings in a press conference on Sunday.

“One man’s unthinkable actions have altered the state of Minnesota,” he said.

Police searched the suspect’s vehicle, finding an alleged target list of dozens of Minnesota Democrats, including Gov. Tim Walz, U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar, U.S. Sen. Tina Smith and state Attorney General Keith Ellison.

The FBI was offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to Boelter’s arrest.

Boelter is suspected of gaining entry to the lawmakers’ homes by disguising himself as a police officer, including having a vehicle that looked like a police car with flashing emergency lights, officials said.

Police believe the suspect opened fire on the victims while wearing a latex mask.

“The face of evil,” the sheriff’s office wrote. “After relentless and determined police work, the killer is now in custody. Thanks to the dedication of multiple agencies working together along with support from the community, justice is one step closer.”

“Boelter exploited the trust our uniforms are meant to represent,” Bob Jacobson, commissioner of Minnesota’s Department of Public Safety, said during the news conference. “That betrayal is deeply disturbing to those of us who wear the badge with honor and responsibility.”
