Dallas Cowboys And Dak Prescott Agree To $240M Contract Extension

THE STORY

The Dallas Cowboys and quarterback Dak Prescott agreed to a four-year, $240 million contract that will make him the highest-paid player in NFL history.

The deal includes $231 million guaranteed. ESPN reported the signing first.

The news comes as Prescott was set to enter the final year of his current contract and with the NFL season officially underway, the goal was to have a deal done before Dallas’ first game of the 2024 campaign.

GOING IN DEPTH

Prescott was a fourth-round pick in the 2016 NFL draft and has played all nine seasons with the Cowboys. The 31-year-old has an all-time 73-41 record but only 2-5 in the postseason.

His contract comes fresh off the best season of his career, finishing the 2023 season with career highs in completions (410) and touchdowns (36), while throwing for 4,516 yards with only nine interceptions. He led Dallas to a 12-5 record before the Cowboys suffered an embarrassing loss to the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card round.

Prescott is the Cowboys second key offensive player to sign a new contract after Dallas inked receiver, CeeDee Lamb, to a deal that will see him wearing the Cowboys star until the 2028 season.
