Doug Emhoff Slams Paxton’s Voter Fraud Claims In Texas Rally

SAN ANTONIO — Second Gentlemen Doug Emhoff railed against Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s voter fraud claims and warned of the dangers of a second Trump term in a Texas rally on Monday.

Speaking to a crowd of 500 at San Antonio College in San Antonio, Texas, Emhoff blamed former President Donald Trump for “infecting the Democratic process” when he refused to accept his election loss in 2020.

“Because of the ‘Big Lie’, states like Texas and Georgia and elsewhere, under the guise of election integrity, they have made it harder to vote,” Emhoff said. “They have thrown up barriers to vote, and they’re already trying to sow distrust in the 2024 election.”

“They know they only way they’re going to win is if fewer people vote,” he continued. “So that’s what they’re trying to do here in Texas.”

Gov. Greg Abbott announced last month sweeping changes to Texas’ election laws, which removed nearly a million people from the state’s voter rolls.

San Antonio found itself in the middle of Paxton’s attempt to find and prosecute voter fraud when search warrants were enacted on multiple local political organizers.

“What they’ve done here shows what could be done in the rest of the country if Trump wins again,” Emhoff said, referencing abortion bans and other attempts by state lawmakers to crackdown on voter turnout.

Emhoff raised more than $1 million at a San Antonio fundraiser for Harris’ presidential campaign Monday night, the largest presidential fundraiser in the city’s history.

“We have to work, even here in Texas,” Emhoff told the guests at the fundraiser. “We can’t take any state off the map. We gotta make sure we’re doing the work here. And even if we can’t turn Texas blue this time around you have a good chance of sending [U.S. Rep.] Colin Allred to the Senate.”
