Report: Chris Christie Considering 2024 Presidential Run

Christie told radio host Hugh Hewitt back in December he would not rule out another run for President.

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is reportedly “seriously considering” a 2024 presidential run, regardless if former President Donald Trump decides to run or not.

Axios reported on Wednesday the 58-year-old former New Jersey governor is thinking seriously about another bid for the White House, citing three people familiar with his plans. Christie told radio host Hugh Hewitt back in December he would not “rule out” another run for President.

Christie reportedly told friends he is the only person in the Republican field with executive experience, wanting to take a “clear shot” at Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who’s also seen as a serious 2024 contender.

Axios also reports Christie told friends Trump deciding to seek a second term wouldn’t affect his decision. He wants to run on a message of toughness that appeals to Trump’s base and wants to be seen as a clear favorite.

Christie has been working as an ABC contributor, wanting to use the role to position himself as an attack dog against President Joe Biden and the Democrats. On This Week, he accused Biden “lying” in his descriptions of infrastructure.

Other names rumored to be thinking of making a 2024 bid include former Vice President Mike Pence and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
