Russia Vows Missile Attacks On Kyiv After Ukraine Sinks Warship

The Washington Post first reported the note and a White House official has confirmed the contents of the letter.

LVIV, Ukraine (Fwrd Axis) — After Ukraine sank a Russian warship, Moscow is vowing to respond with a missile attack on the capital of Kyiv as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine entered its eighth week.

Russia sent a formal diplomatic note to the United States, warning of “unpredictable consequences” if America and its NATO allies continue to send shipments of weapons to Ukraine, accusing the West of “adding fuel” to the conflict.

The Washington Post first reported the note and a White House official has confirmed the contents of the letter.

“What we can confirm is that, along with Allies and partners, we are providing Ukraine with billions of dollars worth of security assistance, which our Ukrainian partners are using to extraordinary effect to defend their country against Russia’s unprovoked aggression and horrific acts of violence,” the State Department said in a statement.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has asked President Joe Biden to add Russia to the state sponsors of terrorism list, one of the most powerful and far-reaching sanctions, according to the Washington Post.

The news comes after Ukraine sank a Russian warship on Thursday after striking it with three missile strikes, a major blow to the Russian efforts, and President Vladimir Putin’s war in the country.

The United States on Friday confirmed Ukraine was behind the sinking of the Russian warship, which killed over 400 people on board.

The Russian warship had been armed with anti-ship and anti-aircraft missiles as well as torpedoes and naval guns and close-in missile defense systems.

Russia is attempting to take control of Mariupol in the southeast and Russia’s defense ministry vowed to increase missile strikes on Kyiv following the attack on the warship. The United Nations World Food Program has warned that tens of thousands of people are still trapped and are “starving to death” in the town of Mariupol.
