Trump Says It Would Be A ‘Mistake’ For DeSantis To Run For President

(Fwrd Axis) — Former President Donald Trump issued a stark warning to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis against running for president in 2024.

Speaking to Fox News late Monday after a rally in Ohio, Trump said DeSantis would “hurt himself badly” if he decided to run against him for the Republican ticket.

“I don’t know if he is running. I think if he runs, he could hurt himself very badly. I really believe he could hurt himself badly,” Trump said. “I think he would be making a mistake. I think the base would not like it. I don’t think it would be good for the party.”

“Any of that stuff is not good. You have other people that possibly will run, I guess,” Trump added. “I don’t know if he runs. If he runs, he runs.”

The former President also claimed to know things about DeSantis that no one else knew, including DeSantis’ own wife.

“I would tell you things about him that won’t be very flattering — I know more about him than anybody — other than, perhaps, his wife,” he said.

The news comes as Trump teased yet again a run for the White House in 2024 on Monday, saying he is planning a ‘big announcement’ for November 15. It also comes on the heels of Trump debuting a new nickname for DeSantis, calling him “Ron DeSanctimonious” at a recent rally.

Still, despite the name calling and warnings, Trump claims there is no love lost between the two men.

“There’s not a tiff with me, and I’m way up in the polls,” he said. No, there’s not.”

Later in the interview, Trump said DeSantis is a “fine guy.”

Other names possibly getting a campaign together include former Vice President Mike Pence, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and former Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley.
