The event found a new home at Pocono Raceway in 1977, competing on the 2.5-mile speedway. Troyer, Bodine and Evans all collected wins on the “tricky triangle” before the event shifted to the 0.75-mile short track layout at Pocono, utilizing the superspeedway’s frontstretch. The Race of champions remained at Pocono until 1991.

Since the move to the infield short track at Pocono, the Race of Champions has remained on short tracks. The event moved to Flemington Speedway in 1992, then to Oswego Speedway in 1996 where it remained through 2016, outside of the 2015 edition taking place at the Chemung Speedrome.

In 2017, the Race of Champions found its new and current home at Lake Erie Speedway in North East, Pennsylvania. Matt Hirschman won the first four Race of Champions at Lake Erie, but Andy Jankowiak and Patrick Emerling have won the last two runnings of the event.
