Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on Saturday that he will visit Washington DC on Monday to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump.
“On Monday, I will meet with President Trump in Washington, D.C., to discuss all of the details regarding ending the killing and the war. I am grateful for the invitation,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
Zelenskyy had what he described as a “lengthy” phone call with Trump following the Alaska Summit on Friday, which ended with no deal being reached.
“I had a long, substantive conversation with President Trump, initially one-on-one, and then also with the participation of European leaders. In total, we spoke for more than an hour and a half, approximately one hour with President Trump,” Zelenskyy said.

“President Trump informed me about his meeting with the Russian leader, about the main points of their conversation,” he added in a posted on Telegram. “We support President Trump’s proposal for a trilateral meeting—Ukraine, America, and Russia.”
Trump confirmed the news on social media after he landed back at Joint Base Andrews.
“President Zelenskyy will be coming to D.C., the Oval Office, on Monday afternoon. If all works out, we will then schedule a meeting with President Putin,” Trump wrote.
Trump went on to say that “it was determined by all that the best way to end the horrific war between Russia and Ukraine is to go directly to a Peace Agreement, which would end the war, and not a mere Ceasefire Agreement.”
The invitation comes less than 24 hours following Trump’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska. Trump touted that the meeting was successful and told Fox News’ Bret Baier he wouldn’t be happy if he walked away from the summit without some form of a deal.
A meeting between Putin, Zelenskyy and Trump “has not yet been raised,” said Yuri Ushakov, Putin’s long-serving presidential aide to Putin, as reported by Russian state media TASS.
Ushakov added “he does not yet know when the next meeting between Putin and Trump will take place.”
