THE STORY

After the ABC News presidential debate wrapped up on Tuesday, Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign challenged Donald Trump to another face off.

The campaign put out an email, saying Harris won the showdown and called for a second round next month in October, blasting Trump for his responses and demeanor.

“Under the bright lights, the American people got to see the choice they will face this fall at the ballot box: between moving forward with Kamala Harris, or going backwards with Trump,” the campaign said. “That’s what they saw tonight and what they should see at a second debate in October. Vice President Harris is ready for a second debate. Is Donald Trump?”

GOING IN DEPTH

Trump responded after he made a rare and unusual visit to the Spin Room following the debate, he claimed Harris’ campaign wants another debate because he “beat her badly” in Tuesday’s debate.

However, in a conversation with Fox News’ Sean Hannity, he did not commit to another debate.

“They want another debate because they lost,” he said. “So, we’ll, you know, think about that.”

“Well, I don’t know,” he later added. “I have to think about it, but if you won the debate, I sort of think maybe I shouldn’t do it. Why should I do another debate? She immediately said, ‘We want another.’ That’s, you know, what happens when you lose you immediately want to do a rematch.”

The Vice Presidential debate is set for October 1 between Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance and Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz.
