Dancing With The Stars professional dancer Cheryl Burke has revealed she has tested positive for Covid-19 despite being vaccinated.
Burke made the announcement on her Instagram page. The 37-year-old dancer is paired with Peloton instructor Cody Rigsby on the show and posted an emotional video, detailing the reaction to her testing positive for the virus.
“The PCR test came back, and it came back positive,” she said. “I feel so bad for Cody. I feel like I’m letting him down. I just feel like s—, to be quite honest. And it’s so overwhelming because it’s Sunday, and the show’s tomorrow.”
She continued: “I figured I should let you guys know since I’ve been as open and as real and vulnerable as I could be here. I just hope I didn’t spread it. For those of you who don’t think Covid is a real thing, it’s f—— real, dude.”
In the video, Burke said she is fully vaccinated and got the two-shot Moderna vaccine.
ABC did not make clear if Rigsby would compete with another partner or how the show will go on Monday in light of Burke’s positive test.
In last week’s season premiere, Burke and Rigsby performed the tango to “Physical” by Dua Lipa, scoring 24 out of 40 points. No couple was eliminated in last week’s premiere.
Burke did say she will have to quarantine for the next 10 days.
“I’ve been ordered to stay home,” she said. “I’ll be in bed. I can’t believe this happened.”
The news comes just three days after The View hosts Sunny Hostin and Ana Navarro were pulled off the air Friday after producers said they tested positive for Coronavirus ahead of an interview with Vice President Kamala Harris.
Both women said Monday the results turned out to be false positives.
“It really was uncomfortable for my results to be released publicly before I even knew what was going on,” Hostin said on Monday.
