Vice President Kamala Harris released a detailed medical report on Saturday as her campaign attempts to put former President Donald Trump’s age and mental fitness under new scrutiny with 23 days to go until Election Day.
Harris’ physician, Dr. Joshua Simmons, said the Vice President “remains in excellent health” in a letter released by the White House. “She possesses the physical and mental resilience required to successfully execute the duties of the presidency, to include those as Chief Executive, Head of State and Commander in Chief.”
Simmons said Harris suffers from seasonal allergies and hives (urticaria) and listed several over-the-counter medications for her to take but said her symptoms have never been “severe”.
The doctor also pointed to her Vitamin D levels as “in the insufficient range.” The blood work Harris completed in April 2024 was “unremarkable” and said Harris has a family history of colon cancer.
The release is a stark contrast with Trump, who has not released a detailed health report since entering the political arena. The most comprehensive details that are known are from a seven year old report, which found the 78-year-old had high cholesterol, was overweight and had rosacea, a benign skin disease.
Trump has undergone several tests since then but has not released a detailed report that includes blood test results, blood pressure, weight, conditions or medications.
This is the first time Harris’ medical records have been made public.
Trump pledged to CBS in back in August that he would release his records but has yet to do so.
Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung said in a statement the former president “has voluntarily released updates from his personal physician, as well as detailed reports from Dr. Ronny Jackson who treated him after the first assassination attempt. All have concluded he is in perfect and excellent health to be Commander in Chief.”
Cheung blasted Harris by saying Trump “has maintained an extremely busy and active campaign schedule unlike any other in political history, whereas Kamala Harris has been unable to keep up with the demands of campaigning.”
The Harris campaign is looking to highlight Trump’s advanced age in the final three weeks of the election. The team released an ad earlier this month, showing Trump appearing to slur his words at an event, and a Fox News host saying, “The former president, he’s been off his game.”
