Kate Middleton To Stay In Hospital Following Abdominal Surgery

Kate will not be resuming her duties as normal until after Easter.

LONDON — Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales, will be hospitalized for two weeks as she begins recovering after undergoing abdominal surgery, Kensington Palace announced Wednesday.

“Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales was admitted to The London Clinic yesterday for planned abdominal surgery,” Kensington Palace announced in a statement Wednesday. “The surgery was successful and it is expected that she will remain in hospital for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery.”

The surgery was “successful,” according to the palace but added Kate will not be resuming her duties as normal until after Easter.

“The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate,” the palace said in a statement. “She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private.”

“The Princess of Wales wishes to apologise to all those concerned for the fact that she has to postpone her upcoming engagements,” the statement continued. “She looks forward to reinstating as many as possible, as soon as possible.”

Middleton and husband William, Prince of Wales, the future king, have three children Prince George, 10, daughter Princess Charlotte, 8, and son Prince Louis, 5.
