Trump Publicly Pressures Bondi Over Pace of Investigations

The President criticized for Bondi, saying ‘nothing is being done’ to prosecute political rivals.

President Donald Trump escalated tensions within his administration on Saturday, publicly pressuring Attorney General Pam Bondi to pursue cases against his political enemies.

“We can’t delay any longer; it’s killing our reputation and credibility. They impeached me twice and indicted me (5 times!), OVER NOTHING. JUSTICE MUST BE SERVED, NOW!!!” Trump said in a Truth Social post.

Trump said “people” were complaining that “nothing is being done” and named some public officials whom he wants investigated: former FBI Director James Comey, Democratic Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), and New York Attorney General Letitia James.

Comey, the former FBI director, led the investigation into Trump’s ties to the Russians, which concluded that Trump’s campaign did not collude with Russian operatives.

Schiff led the first impeachment of Trump during his first term.

James brought a successful civil lawsuit against Trump in 2022, accusing him of overvaluing assets, including real estate, in loan applications.

In a follow-up post, Trump then praised Bondi.

“Pam Bondi is doing a GREAT job as Attorney General of the United States,” he wrote.

“President Trump appreciates all Attorney General Bondi is doing to Make America Safe Again,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement. “The President wants justice and accountability for the many corrupt criminals and politicians who weaponized our justice system against him and his millions of patriotic supporters.”

Trump also spoke about former Acting U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia Erik S. Siebert, who was tasked with investigating mortgage fraud allegations against James. He resigned on Saturday morning.

“We almost put in a Democrat supported U.S. Attorney in Virginia, with a really bad Republican past,” he wrote.

Trump said he was naming Lindsey Halligan as his nominee to replace Siebert.

“What we don’t need is a Democrat Endorsed ‘Republican.’ I will be nominating Lindsey Halligan to be the United States Attorney in this very important part of our Great Country. She will be Fair, Smart, and will provide desperately needed, JUSTICE FOR ALL,” he wrote.
