Warriors Win NBA Championship Behind Big Game From Curry

BOSTON (Fwrd Axis) — Stephen Curry has won championships before but this one might be the sweetest of all. He released a big yell and tears rolled down his face as the Golden State Warriors defeated the Boston Celtics 103-90 in Game 6 of the NBA Finals on Thursday to capture their fourth NBA championship in eight years.

The victory gives the Warriors their seventh NBA title overall and fourth in their recent run, winning in 2015, 2017, 2018, and now in 2022. Curry scored 34 points, shooting 57 percent as the led the charge for Golden State’s 21-0 run to pull away in the first half.

“You know how long the road is to get back here because of how hard it is to win on this level,” Curry said in the postgame trophy presentation.

“Boston is a great team, every (playoff) team we played in the West is a great team,” he said. “But we found a way to just get it done.”

Warriors coach Steve Kerr has won nine NBA championships, five as a player and four as a coach.

“This might be the most unlikely of all,” Kerr said. “But I’ve just been blessed. I hang around superstars. You hand around superstars good things happen.”

The 2022 title caps off a return to the postseason for the Golden State Warriors, who are back at the top of NBA glory after a two-year absence.

Curry missed all of the 2019-20 campaign with a broken hand, while Klay Thompson was sidelined for the entirety of 2019-20 and 2020-21 with career-threatening knee and Achilles injuries.

”It all paid off,” Thompson said. ”It was dog days, a lot of tears shed. … You knew it was a possibility, but to see it in real-time. . It’s crazy.”

”This one hits different for sure knowing what the last three years meant, what it’s been like,” Curry said. ”Injuries, the changing of the guard, rosters, the young guys. … Now, we got four championships. Me, Dray, Klay and Andre.
