The Bureau of Prisons has moved former Jeffrey Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell from a federal prison in Florida to a federal prison camp in Texas, it was confirmed on Friday.
Overall view: The news comes a week after Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, who was previously President Trump’s personal lawyer, met with Maxwell for over two hours.
- The meeting came as the Trump administration continues to face mounting pressure to release the Epstein files and be more transparent with the American public.

The real news: The camp, located in Bryan, Texas, houses only women. Many of those are serving time for nonviolent offenses.
- Epstein abuse survivor Virginia Giuffre released a statement, saying “”It is with horror and outrage that we object to the preferential treatment convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell has received.”
- The statement continued: “The Trump administration should not credit a word Maxwell says, as the government itself sought charges against Maxwell for being a serial liar. This move smacks of a cover up. The victims deserve better.”
A deeper dive: Maxwell is serving a 20-year federal prison sentence for child sex trafficking and other offenses in connection with Epstein. She is wanting to get out and has so far been cooperating with officials.
- Maxwell was seen returning to prison in Florida carrying a box following the meeting with Justice Department officials.
The interest: Trump has previously said he “has not thought about” giving Maxwell a pardon but added he is “allowed to do it.”
One more thing: Maxwell’s immunity is considered “limited” because it applies only if she tells the truth, according to NBC News.
