2 U.S. Jets Shot Down By Iran, One Pilot Rescued, Another Missing

A U.S. official said that the status of the other crew member remains unknown.

On Friday, a U.S. fighter jet was shot down over Iranian territory, and other American aircraft were also struck during a search and rescue mission, as confirmed by U.S. officials to FWRD AXIS News. This incident marks a significant and potentially perilous escalation in the ongoing conflict.

A U.S. official confirmed that one crew member aboard the downed two-seater F-15E has been rescued. The official said that the status of the other crew member remains unknown, and the search and rescue operation is ongoing.

Amid the search and rescue mission, a second U.S. jet and two Black Hawk helicopters were struck by incoming fire, officials said.

Iran’s media published photographs alongside claims from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps that they had successfully shot down an F-15E fighter jet. The Pentagon and the White House have yet to comment on these claims.

There are photos of the fighter jet that were released by Iranian state media that have not been independently verified by FWRD AXIS News.

President Trump has said that the U.S. has been negotiating with Iran to end the war. Iran says there is no direct negotiation.

This marks the first instance where a U.S. aircraft has reportedly crashed within Iranian airspace during this ongoing war, thereby challenging the notion that the U.S. possesses complete control over Iranian airspace. Recently, the U.S. has intensified its bombing campaigns over the country.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Trump had been briefed on the incident — the latest dramatic development in the war, now more than a month old.

Trump has declared success and pressured Iran to agree to a deal to end the war, while sending new troops to the Middle East and threatening intense escalation if Tehran doesn’t reopen the vital Strait of Hormuz trade route.

Trump, in a primetime address to the nation earlier this week, said the U.S. was “nearing completion” of its military objectives and that Tehran’s anti-aircraft abilities had been decimated.

“We’ve done all of it. Their navy is gone. Their air force is gone. Their missiles are just about used up or beaten,” Trump said in his speech on Wednesday night.
