Bahrain Says Iran Attacked U.S. Navy Fleet Service Center

Netanyahu thanked President Donald Trump “for his historic leadership.”

Bahrain’s state-run news agency reported on Saturday that the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet’s service center was the target of a missile attack by Iran.

The joint Israeli-U.S. strike on Iran “included an attack on dozens of military targets and was carried out as part of a broad, coordinated, and joint attack against the regime,” a spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement.

The IDF statement underscored the close cooperation between the two nations.

“In the months leading up to the attack, close joint planning was carried out between the IDF and the US Army, which enabled the broad attack to be carried out with maximum synchronization and coordination between the armies,” the IDF statement said. “The IDF, across all its systems, has a rigorous and long-term preparation process for the operation, both in the defense systems and in the various attack plans.”

The Iranian Ministry of Interior condemned the joint attack by the U.S. and Israel on Saturday, saying in a statement: “We would like to inform the great people of Islamic Iran that the criminal enemy has once again violated all international laws and during negotiations, once again violated our beloved homeland.”

Earlier, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps stated Iranian state broadcaster IRIB saying an attack on Israel had begun.

The U.S. embassy in Qatar is warning Americans in the country of imminent missile strikes.

“Missile incoming. Imminent missile strikes. Duck and cover until further notice. Continue to shelter in place,” the notice said.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in his first remarks on the strikes, said in a statement that Israel and the U.S. “embarked on an operation to remove the existential threat posed by the terrorist regime in Iran.”

Netanyahu thanked President Donald Trump “for his historic leadership.”

“This murderous terrorist regime must not be armed with nuclear weapons that would allow it to threaten all of humanity,” he added.
